“In our culture, people talk about trauma as an event that happened a long time ago. But trauma is the imprint that event has left on your mind and in your sensations; the discomfort, agitation, rage and helplessness you feel right now”.

Using a Person-Centered approach, I will seek to understand the issue from the individual’s perspective. I may integrate Attachment Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused CBT, and/or DBT distress tolerance skills. I will teach coping skills for emotion regulation, cognitive restructuring using deeply held core beliefs, and boundary setting.
Incorporates many of the skills taught in individual sessions, as well as utilizing many of the same theoretical approaches and techniques – with a heavier emphasis on improving healthy communication skills, boundary setting, and increasing positive connection.
Using a Family Systems perspective, we will identify the issue(s) as well as collective and individual needs, identify Function of the Behaviors, integrate parenting styles, assess for maladaptive family roles, address routine and structure, review consequences and incentives, identify outside influences and supports, discuss developmental needs and parental expectations, and develop healthy communication skills and positive connections.
You are resilient! I will help you identify strengths, resources, and solutions that work for you. I offer unconditional positive regard to ensure you feel safe being your authentic self. I can teach you new skills to cope with life’s many challenges. It is essential the therapeutic relationship be one of trust, transparency, and authenticity – to foster growth and healing. My preferred therapeutic approach is a combination of Person-Centered, with elements of Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Family Systems Theory, and Attachment Theory. I also incorporate elements of somatic therapy and DBT to assist with emotion regulation.
